PS1 game that looks like MDK

hey folks

I have a mate looking for a game it was on an old demo disk for the PlayStation 1

he said it looks a lot like mdk but the character has a grey outfit and is shorter and shoots a little plasma rifle and third person

also meant to be semi open world and when I suggested its MDK he thought it was at first but as he got playing it on my retro pc he said its not but the fighting is similar fighting a gun from his right hand and you kill aliens but his forgotten the rest heh
