Buy the full version of Excelsior Phase One: Lysandia
Excelsior v1.0 (excelsior.zip, 588k) - This earlier version has non-animated sprites and a few other changes. Probably only play this version if you have fond memories of the original release.
Excelsior is an innovative and in-depth RPG. It uses text-mode graphics with a custom character set, 2x1 tiles (your character and most objects are two characters wide) and even includes animated tiles. The story involves being a "Fixer" who travels between dimensions solving irregularities / problems as they occur. It plays like a typical old-style RPG, with turn-based battles, many items / weapons / armors / spells to acquire, and a huge world to explore. You create your character before starting the game, choosing their name, stats, and initial skills. This is a great game for RPG fans. The is a more modern Windows version of the game available on the company's website, where you can still buy the full version of their games.
