The Hamachi gaming Network

Hamachi is a small program that "gives you LAN over the Internet" thus allowing gamers to play old games over the Internet even if they
- Have a game that does not support internet multyplayer other than modem calls but does support LAN multyplayer (So just this does not include Serial)
- Have a game that for *ahem*obvious reasons*ahem* does not allow Internet play
Using Hamachi is very easy. You just need to download the
client, install it and you're 3 clicks away of a multyplayer head-to-head/deatmatch/co-op or whichever suits you best
A list of games that
can be played over Hamachi can be found
here but I
will add some games other than those(since this
is about old games)
However, Hamachi has a setback... A network can host 273 users,
however they are counted as
- 16 Free members
- 256 Premium members
- 1 Host
When you install Hamachi you have the option to test the Premium account for 30 days. This means that after one month you'll be back to a free user.
However, if I see that this thing catches on... I(or other DGF members)will set up more networks so that people could join and play despite the free account status.
Anybody that wants to join the brand new network... PM me for the network name and password.

3) With a friend we wanted to play a very old game over the Internet, the game is Dungeon Keeper 1. When I go in multiplayer, I have tree choices: Serial Cable, Modem and IPX. I guess that to play that game using the Hamachi Network I created I need to choose IPX. Well when I choose this, the game says that "the initialization of IPX is impossible" Sad. Why? How can I fix it?
---
So this is for games that need an IPX Network:
---
You need to add IPX protocol to Hamachi connection. Go to Network
Connection folder, right-click on Hamachi, select Properties, select
Install, select Protocol, select Microsoft, select NWLink..., click OK
Then restart Hamachi and try your game setup again. Whether it will
work right away I don't know, every game's different. If it doesn't
you will need to ask here again for exact advice (or try figuring this
out yourself Smile).
Edit: This example assumes you've got the dungeon keeper ipx patch from bullfrog installed, but IPX is needed for a lot of games, so the small guide should be sufficient.

What are some of the games that you want to use Hamachi on?
I took the liberty of making the UG. Larry, I decided to make you group owner, so you have full power of accepting people to the group. It should be private, so only members of the DGF Hamachi Guild (if you want me to change the name on anything, just tell me >_>), as I've called it, will be able to see the board.

PLEASE NOTE, hamachi indeed allows you to play games using there network over the internet... HOWEVER only TCP/IP protocol will work... start hamachi, start game, enjoy like a crazy bum fart on fire.

Well, besides the ones shown in the Hamachi
official forum I see that the following work:
Atomic Bomberman
Liero Xtreme(I'm in the mood of an ol' fashioned Liero game)
MS Soccer(If you're a sports addict)
Doom Legacy(I know why I was lagging yesterday
)
Starcraft(On UDP I believe, not IPX)--- If any of you dares to deny a SC game... oh...
Blood2
For now these are all that I could think of(despite the fact that Abuse
should work). But that's why I said that any help would be apreciated, so if any of you guys has enough spare time to go to
The HOTU Multyplay area(preferably from the second page on) we could sort these games out a lot faster.

Nah it's good just as is
And Franpa... for some strange reason, the Liero Xtreme and Atomic Bomberman LAN Multyplay works just fine via IPX

That is sweet Is this program virus free. Is it legal and will the program cost me money to use it.

It's virus-free, as legal as it gets(otherwise I wouldn't of posted about it here) and it depends. Although there is a Premium account(paid) there is always a free account which you can use for as long as you wish. The good thing is that you can "test" the premium account for one month, free of charge.
So yes, go ahead and try it

im after a fellow aussie doom player to play against
anyone up for co-op or death match? youl need a registered copy of doom, doom 2, doom tnt, doom plutonia to play me... and you will need doom legacy 1.42 windows.
the reason for an aussie person is because people too far away lag like crap... and the reason for doom legacy over doom95 is because doom95 lags worse then doom legacy... so anyone out there?

Franpa is right! Doom in general has an awful distance lag! I played with a romanian buddy of mine the day before yesterday and it worked just fine... then I tried joining an internet server... well I'm not gonna try that again, that's for sure!

I don't get it......how do you find the servers??

You don't, you need to join a network with someone who is also going to play that game. Such, it requires planning. And friends.

Gamer_V is right, using Hamachi is just as playing a game over a Local Area Network, despite the fact that you're using the internet!

Franpa, if you want to play DOOM on a random internet server, I suggest you try
Skulltag!
Ok, now onto the new games proven to work over Hamachi list:
- Warcraft 2-Tides of Darkness
- Red Alert 2
- Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe(in case I haven't mentioned it before)

I will be using it next week and would like to know if NFS 2 SE or nfs High Stakes would work as i would like to play them against other people but their not on the list of games to work on hamachi.

I don't own the original copys of either(heck! I don't even have HS) so I can't tell you for sure if they will work or not... so, you can't know till you try it
But, I repeat myself, you can't play NFS over Hamachi alone, you need to set up the game with somebody else!

How would i do that.
