Space Quest 6 / Leisure Suit Larry problem

So i had a hankering to play Space Quest 6, installation seemed fine and then when i loaded up the game the music was terrible. Everytime i load up the auto-start menu to install and setup sound, theres an option to test the system. Now, obviously this would be the correct thang to do but once u try it the program shuts down instantly, even if u choose not to test the system - a page of results will come up, u can test the music and it will work fine, try loading the game again and it sure wont be!

Im also having sound problems with the Leisure Suit Larry games, i have the Greatest hits CD and the games work fine but music + FX are non-existent. I also have the Shape up or Slip out CD and the music is terrible.

Any advice?
