The Mafia Bros.

Post by Jorrit »

Today I received a new e-mail from Steve Chris:
Steve Chris wrote:just thought i'd drop in and say hi and show you a trailer of a HUGE new game movie I'm working on called 'The Mafia Bros.' which is all about... well I'll let the trailer do the talking.
This time the movie is completely created in Flash. You can see the intro of his new game movie here:

Start intro 'The Mafia Bros.'
Steve Chris wrote:The Movie itself is taking a bit longer than I'd expected (preparing the voices and learning some minor Japanese is difficult). The actual movie will be submitted into this same topic in say about a week or maybe a month later hopefully before Christmas.

If anyone is interested in giving their voice talents for the movie (that of course includes getting your name published in the credits) just drop me an email for the script ([email protected])

If anyone is interested in giving me some ideas, feedback, require any information on how I made this trailer, or just want to stay tuned for frequent updates on the new movie just join my official group at

Gotta love that loading music type thing, then it gets annoying and you begin to hate it, then it gets funny again :D.

Anyway it was a pretty nice intro/preview type thing it’ll be good to see what he comes up with for the finished product. Do you have any idea how big the actual movie he’s making is going to be?

I'm guessing this will be more of a mockumentary? That'll be an interesting change from his previous videos (which have been entirely storyline fiction), but I'm looking forward to it!

Well if the intro's anything to go by the finished product should be pretty good.

There's only one problem guys...

http://www.visualanimations.com/Java/mafia.php
http://www.flashplayer.com/animation/mafiabros.html
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/208719

I created a movie called "Mafia Bros." last year in 2004 in december and it was also based on super mario bros. here is a link. I'd also like a an e-mail address to let this steve guy know he pretty much ripped off my idea. Thanks.

Still it would suck if people were like hey did you see mafia bros? and then it turns out there's more than one version, He should make a new name for it so there's no confusion, you wouldn't want someone to make a movie with the same name as yours, thats like a lord of the rings but about someones love life, etc etc.

Wow because there have never been 2 movies that have shared the same name before Image. I mean have you even watched the preview to the one by Steve Chris? It looks nothing like yours, how could you possibly think you were ripped off?

They're aren’t even similar. Your one is a rip off of scarface and his is about gaming. So what’s the problem?

Obviously these guys are friends with Steve Chris and don't see my point of view. But if you guys have made an animation before and have had someone take your title, you wouldn't be too pleased either.

And yes I may have used mixed concepts I didn't invent but my movie is purely a spoof , a comedy to make people laugh. All I am saying is that he needs a new title, otherwise it means confusion on both sides, I'm not saying he should re design his entire movie, all I am saying is he needs to get a different title.

For example I have a movie called "mario bloopers" I was the first one , I know this by fact of course to use that title. After that either someone liked my movie or did a remake is anyone's guess, but there are 3-4 "mario bloopers" floating around. And whenever someone talks about it , its either my movie or one of the others.

That's my point, no two movies should have the same title otherwise it causes a lot of confusion, not to mention I don't like the idea of someone using the title I came up with. I'm sure you guys wouldn't like if another web site called themselves "dosgamez.com" , sure its very slightly different but basically the same name. So you can see why I wouldn't like this.

So yeah again I'm not saying he needs to start from scratch all I am saying is he needs to get a new title. But yeah if he is reading this, judging by the music of his intro (godfather music) a title like "The God Bro." would suit it a lot better as well.

The God Bros. eh? hmmm... nah could affect my ratings a bit. I think I'll stick to 'The Mafia Bros.' (still need to make down payments on the Yacht I bought with my LAST game movie)

Listen Matrix buddy, pal, with all due respect, I seriously had absolutely NO idea there even WAS something called 'The Mafia Bros.' before. I DON'T really watch every single game movie ever made out there, and I'm really sorry I missed yours. It was a PURE coincidence, honest!

I worked JUST as hard as you did if not harder and the name perfectly suits for the Movie I am going to make. Moreover the movie I'm making is not all fun and games nor a spoof. It is a serious look at how games are really addicting kids and adults alike and how BIG coporations are making millions off of it. So as Wally and
The_Sinister_Mastermind put it, it's a COMPLETELY different concept altogether!

I TOTALLY respect your ingenuity on coming up with a great title like that and to show you how much I appreciate it, I am willing to place your name in the credits under 'Original Title by Matrix of Va Studios' or whatever you want, WHEREEVER and HOW MANY TIMES EVER YOU WANT IN THE MOVIE!! (sorry I can't do a thing abt the Trailer though, cuz i already deleted the source file and besides people have already seen it)

AND as a bonus if I ever start selling my halfwit movies into CDs or something (God forbid) I will give you some royalties for the title along with the cheques to my lawyer when Miyamoto sues me blind.

Thanks to all the others Wally, The_Sinister_Mastermind, Dogbreath, jordant, and especially Jorrit for your support.

I am feeling incredably sick right now, my head is swimming with other tensions, and I REALLY need some rest if I want to finish this movie on time, so PLEASE let's drop this subject in the forums, and let me and my new buddy Matrix here work things out alone.

my private email is [email protected] You can contact me if you want to talk more about this situation. Thank you! (goes back to sleep)

Why not just work together then :)

On the other hand.

Matrix: You & Steve are using nintendos characters to make a mafia type film. Nintendo dont care less. So why ignore the fact there is another mafia bros avaliable on the web.

Fair enough.

I don't really mind anymore, kinda got it out of my system :D

Maybe we could be affiliates or something we'll see. So far our web sites been getting increased traffic as of late, so any affiliation deals are accepted. I also mean that for DOSGAMES.com as well. I'm a fan of old games myself so yeah I like this site. Anyone play the following? :

-Theme Hospital
-Dungeon Keeper
-Police quest 2-4

Yeah on the topic of Dungeon Keeper, anyone know where I can download the first one? I haven’t really looked to tell you the truth, I'm sure if I did I'd find it but I’m lazy after all. Oh and in case any of you are interested if you liked Dungeon Keeper you should try Evil Genius. Very good game, and most people who liked one liked the other. Only thing is it was released not too long ago and is definitely not free. But if you’re lucky like me you spotted it when it first came out :D.
