old sci-fi around same time as Doom in ... 93?

I know this is probably lame but...there was a game that came out around the same time as Doom 1 for pc ... you could pick like... 3 or 4 party members along w/ pretty much all their weapons/equipment. The first level you were acting security for some official to the immediate NW of the starting position. There was a little crowd gathered around listening to his speech. If this sounds familiar AT ALL, I would gladly research any names you can come up with.

it might be mercenaries, i'll have to find better screenshots on the net, but i don't think that's it. I can't even find Strike Squad on a google search.
