I AM GOING INSANE!!
I recently had a new motherboard installed, and it seems now I get the following error messge when I try to install DOS games, as well as other programs that have a DOS-based install.

16-bit Windows Subsystem

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC\.NT. The systen file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application.

And can't re-install ANY of my favorite programs!!! please help!!!

For some reason, certain files XP needs to run DOS stuff just disappear. Don't ask me why ... :suspicious:

Anyways, extract the files contained in this zip file into your Windows SYSTEM32 folder and DOS stuff should run:
http://www.dosgames.com/~wally4000/autocon.zip

Of course, using DOSBox as GameMaster.EXE suggested might still work better than the generic Windows DOS command prompt ... get it at:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net
