How many levels are there in Ugh!?

Post by Mingy Jongo »

I'm at level 34 now, and I'm amazed at how many levels are packed into a single file! How many are there total?

There are 69 levels for 1-player mode and 81 levels for 2-player mode.

Isn't it good - the PC version gives you 150 levels (69+81) for just only a file of about 140KB. Some levels in the 1-player mode are the same in the 2-player mode. However, I cannot find a companion to play the 2-player mode. Long ago, I played a few levels of the 2-player mode with my sister.

Many, many years ago I played till level 69 and didn't finish the last level. Strangely I played 69 levels without knowing that I could throw a stone. it was a few years later that I found out that the stone could be thrown. Then I was thinking how silly I was giving myself extra difficulty when playing the game without the stone. On the other hand, I was an expert at that game. It has been years since I played it so I probably need to practice to get back the skill. It was so close just one level to finish the game. Still wondering what happens when one finishes the game.

Could tell you how many levels there are because years ago, my sister used Norton Commander to extract the passwords for all the levels. :D

Thanks, BTW, is there a way to use a joystick? I went to the controls menu and pressed F1 to change the controls from keyboard, but it doesn't change.

There supposed to be. F5 to enter options then F1 for changing player 1 control and F2 for changing player 2 controls. However, I don't know how it's works as I don't have a joystick. With only a keyboard, the options won't change for me so don't know how to test for you. You'll have to wait for someone who played using a joystick before to reply.

Btw, how you ever tried pressing a joystick button? It works for some games. Maybe you can try and who know something could happen if you're lucky. :D

In case you wanted to know, it seems the orginal Amiga version of this game had 70 levels. I wonder how it varied when the person ported it to PC.

Well, it didn't work. I pressed F1 and it didn't change and I pressed a joystick button and it didn't change either. BTW, I beat the whole game, level 69 was hard, but it only took me about 25-30 tries to beat it. The trick is to drop the first caveman off and get to the other side before the flying thing comes after you. Then just taxi them as fast as you can, I had about {00-----------} time left when I beat it. I want to get the joystick to work so that I can play 2 player without being jumbled at the keyboard.

I haven't gotten past level 1 of UGH. I am startled that I will have so many levels to explore
