Mines of Moria, atleast I think that's the name.

Help locating old / Pre year 2000 games you used to play.

Does anyone know where I could find Mines of Moria? I'm not sure if that's the real name, I can't remember. It was a very basic game,,you would move your little character thru passage ways. Snakes and monsters would be represented by letters. Two colors. I can't remember anything else about it. If anyone knows anything about this game I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. That's not the game I was thinking about though. I was looking for text games too. However the games on that site aren't downloading. The moria game I was thinking about had movement. Looking down on the passages of a dungeon. for example the walls would look like this llllllllll snakes would look like S. If I remember correctly, when creating your character you could give them three attributes,,something like that. I appreciate the help. :)

Was it an action game, or a turn-based RPG?
It sounds kinda like Rogue or a similar game like Evets, Nethack, etc.

It was an action game as in your character moved around the dungeon killing things. Your character was represented by a letter, the monsters were represented by letters. This wasn't a text game, you would hit a key to attack, to dig and so on. I'll check out Rogue and see how close it is. Thanks :)

I downloaded this game. It's pretty cool. Not quite as in-depth as Nethack, but it's more intuitive and has a lot more race & role options.

After doing a bit of research on this myself, I found that Dungeon Crawl is a spin-off of Moria, although they are much alike. There are different versions of Moria - I saw a screenshot of a seemingly "newer" version, with graphics replacing the text (although I'm partial to the text graphics, myself :D ).

Here's the "official" site, if anyone is still interested:
