Dominus on dosbox
I can't seem to get dosbox to start dominus for me. I always seem to get a messge saying plese insert the dominus cdrom and restart but the dominus cd is in the cdrom. I am trying to start the game from where it was installed in my C drive. I installed dominus into the C drive. I went to dosbox and typed in mount c c:\ then i change directory to c:\Dominus. after that i tried to start the .exe file loader and that didn't work. I also realized that i was suppose to type in C:\DOM but when i press enter i get this message. DOS/4GW Professional Protected Mode Runt-time Version 1.97 Copyright (c) Rational System, INc 1990-1994 THe syntax of the command is incorrect. Please insert Dominus Cd and restart. I've gone throught all the .exe files and most will give me the above message or just say please insert Dominus cdrom. Could someone please help me with the stp by step way to start this game?
Unzip the game to:
x:\games\dom
run dosbox,
mount c x:/games<enter>
cd dom<enter>
install<enter>
soundsetup -->soundblaster
exit setup
YOU DON'T INSTALL THE GAME !!
dom<enter>

Cpu cycles on my pc: 2 500 to run at a smoothly manner.
(This is sys dependent ! alter to suit your sys ! )
Oh yes, the x: alter to match your drive.
That is if you got the game where i think you got it.
If you have the full game on CD reply and then....now then you'll see.
PS: State your sys specs, CPU/MEM/OS.

ok I followed your directions exactly but after i put in C:\DOM>dom the same message came up saying please insert Dominus Cd and restart. I have the full game on CD and its the authentic one no scratches etc. I have a pentium 4 1.8 ghz 512 ram and windows xp. When you say unzip if I extract it would it be the same thing. I don't have winzip or anything like that but xp does have extract zip files.

after following your directions inwhich you said to type in install dos-box said type DOM yo play but when I do it says

There's something I must be doing wrong. Igot dos box .60. Would having .63 make a difference or is it just an error i'm doing?

Ok then , you have the full CD so that's gonna take a different approach.
First of all get yourself dosbox 0.63. Yes ?
I advise you to make a games folder on your c drive, always better for dosgames, some will save there games on the c root, and your c: will soon look as a trashcan. Take it or leave it as you wish.
run dosbox and mount your c:\games as c:
mount c c:/games <enter>
mount your cd drive as d: (alter the x to match your win cddrive )
mount d x:/ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl <enter>
go to your cd drive:
d: <enter>
install the game on c:\dom
set the sound up as described above.
and run dominus.
You can add the mount lines in dosbox config under the [autoexec] heading so they will always be mounted when you start dosbox and add the c: (click on dosbox.config item and scroll down to autoexec )
must look as:
[autoexec]
mount c c:/games
mount d x:/ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl
c:

start dosbox, should startup on c:
cd dom <enter>

i'm almost there!!!!!! ok I followed your directions and got to install game on c:/dom. Ok its starts to install and then bam there is a warning and a bunch of them

I don't want to sound pedant but you did everything BUT follow my instructions, reread my post, and restart from scratch,that's my advise, IF you have the full CD that's the way to install and then run the game. Delete your dom folder, restart from scratch and follow instructions.Print out my previous reply and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS.Don't make typo's. one .or,or- to many or forget one space and you are gonna get troubles.
