Duke Nukem 3D on XP
Although I think you can play the ordinary DOS version of duke3d in windows in compatibility mode without sound.. the best way is to use one of the ports that were made following the release of the duke3d source code.
There are two main ones:
Jonof's port - which has good 3d support, the option of using models instead of sprites (not a fan of this, but it is there) and you can use a sound replacement pack.

The big gotcha is.. networking sucks in Jonof's port. So if you're wanting to play on a LAN, use the rancidmeat port - which has great networking support but no 3d accelleration.
