what to do if the screen is black?

Post by meutom »

some dos games act rather strange on my pc. when i try to run them, the screen gets black and a clicking can be heard. then i try to shift the picture from full screen to the window mode. and sometimes it helps, but in most cases it doesn't work. should i obtain some utils to make the games running? or should i do something else?

But what OS?
What games?
And what graphics card?

Sorry...

Try going to DOS mode (if you have Windows 95 or 98), then run the game.

If you have Windows NT, 2000, or XP it's just as well to give up.

meutom, at a very rough guess it sounds like the sound card config is up the shitter.
If you can, disable the sound in the games setup prog and try again. If you get the game running then you know it's the game and all you need do is DL and setup VDMS.
If the same happens with no sound then .....errr..... don't call me I'll call you lol ;)
Hope this helps

Jay: Reviving year old topics isn't exactly a big help. I doubt meutom is still around to read this.

Ummm...

I guess a guy with only one post and this topic being old makes it unnecessary to answer his question.

By the way, I think this forum is getting too fat. Maybe you and/or Emmzee could delete the oldest, uninteresting topics sometime. (Doesn't matter to me, just a suggestion).

Anyway, thanks for the tip, Dogbreath.

Naw, they're good for reference, and we trust that users will be smart enough to look at the post date and distinguish "old" topics from "current" ones as far as dates matter. (Discussion topics like religion don't need this because they have no real start or end.) Bah.

however, if you DO have the for sure answer to something, feel free to post it. That way one can link to it for future reference.
