Blood on win XP

I'm having some serious problems with running Blood 1 on my XP , Sound Blaster Live!. Anyway- as always it works on Dosbox but hell, it's so damn slow that it's almost like watching screenshots. I tried VDMS- now this is strange - when I run it with VDMS (all set up properly) the game starts to "initiliaze" (i mean the window where it checks if everything is in place for the game) but when it's supposed to run it crashes. It gives this error: "Playback failed, possibly due to an invalid or conflicting IRQ". Well , i tried messing with IRQ's but with no result. Anyone got an idea what to do with this one?Ow , I tried running with no music and sound set but then the game JUST quits(no specific error). Weird huh?
