the system file is not suitible for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications.

This is the message i get when i try to run any game from the CD.

Does anyone know how to get them to work?

The error message you posted is incomplete.
It seems that you are running Windows2000/XP and your c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt file is corrupted and can not serve running 16-bit applicatins, like the ones you probably have on that CD.
You could try copying the autoexec.nt backup form c:\windows\repair\ over the corrupted one in system32. Mind that on Windows2000 the windows directory is c:\winnt
