trouble with chasm on D-fend for dos box

whenever i try to run it with a hercules tandy or cga video card it just stops on the dos loading console it runs fine on vga but very slowly ...so can anybody tell me how to run it with a hercules please so i wont have to play the entire game in a stop for a second every 20 seconds way
