Looking for old adventure game......don't remember name

I remember playing this game when i was a youngin. I remember a guy with blonde hair and a purple cape (i think) walking around a town, he could go to the bar and get drunk and then they would toss him out of the town till morning. Also in the town there was like a magic shop where you could get potions and such. Outside the town, you were in the woods and somehow came across "the baron's" castle. Then the guy could go out in the stable and clean up (sweeping) for a while and he would get paid for it.

I have been searching for this game forever and I really would like to know the name of it!! Please help a video game damsel in distress here!!

Yup, agree it's almost for sure Quest For Glory 1. The guy didn't have a purple cape i think but everything else is very much simmiliar to QFG1.
