Battlegrounds Gettysburg

This game should be able to run under windows 95 or 3.11.
However it won´t work in 95 compatibility, can anyone help me out?
If you need more info, please don´t hesitate to ask.

95 compatibility, while a wonderful thing, is not going to do it 100% like the real Windows 95 did.
Windows XP and Windows 95 are two fundamentally different kernels, and there may be something the game is doing that Windows XP refuses to tolerate. (like direct hardware access, sharing violations, etc.)
It may help to post a screenshot of an error message.

the error message would be in german, so I´ll post it in german and english

At that, the Windows 16-bit Subsystem, which is the only built-in function Windows XP uses to run Windows 3.1 and/or DOS games, appears to be incompatible with that game. Therefore you will need to create an emulation environment to run the game, such as DOSBox,

Or you could make a boot disk, but that is more complicated.

I tried dosbox
The results:
"Illegal command: win"
or
"This program must be run under Microsoft Windows"
Any other ideas?
