I am resurrecting an old topic because I still want to play this game. No matter waht I do Mr. Boom 3.0 will not owrk on XP. If I run it, it closes right away. If I run it in the command prompt, the command prompt closes. I followed the instrctions on getting games to work, still didn't work. Then I ran it in DosBox but it went extremely slow and said it was missing a configuration file. Any other good emulators?

YOu can speed the process up in Dosbox by pressing Shift or control f12 i think..

Get it to about 10000 for best performance

This game can be run in turbo mode, so maybe that could fix a few things, but it doesn't recognize my network hardware for some reason. It says it could play on IPX/SPX, I have that setup but it says it don't notice it.

Well, i take it that on my Windows 98SE computer, it detects the IPX/SPX protocol, because the command prompt has access to the whole system (I don't know how else to put it). But the Windows XP computer, when I use DosBox, I mount the whole C drive. But I take it that that is all the emulator sees. Is there a drive letter, or special directory, where the emulator can read my protocol settings. I don't know which drive "My Network Places" is on.

I doubt that is a drive at all...

You may need to install the IPX\SPX protocol to wintrash XP

How do I do that? Why would I put it in Wintrash XP. What is Wintrash XP?

You go to http:\\www.driverguide.com and look for IPX\SPX.

Sorry Wintrash is slang for Windows

I still don't think that's the problem. On my win 98 computer, I can run the game and it finds the IPX/SPX. But when I run it in the emulator (on the Win 98 computer, I know there's no point in doing that), it doesn't find the network driver either. So the emulator is cutting the game off from contact with the network hardware/drivers/whatever. How can I reestablish this contact?

IPX isn't installed in XP by default. Go to your Network Connection Settings, open the properties for the connection you want to use, and under protocols, click install or add (maybe protocols shows later). Then, intsall NWare NetBIOS/IPX (or something like that).

Let me say this again, The IPX/SPX is set up, it has worked for other games. In the Dos emulator, the protocols driver is not recognized. What setting do I change to fix this?
