FIFA 96...ARGGGHHHH!!!!!

Hi there. I have been playing all the recent games that have been released (Far Cry, Doom 3 etc..), but i have also missed playing my old favourites from my 386 and 486 days.
The game i was most fond of was Fifa '96. I have tried in vain for a very long time to get this game to work on Windoze XP, but all i get is file read errors because Windoze keeps the cd drive to itself and will not share.
Is there any way i can get this game to work on XP.
