need for speed..the original

I can't get the program to install....it starts but when the msdos window opens it says cdrom read error fffff...something
I love this game....any idea how to install it in xp home???????

Make sure the CD-ROM drive is clean and the CD doesn't have too many scratches. If the CD is very scratched up, get a cleaning kit at a computer store that should help you clean scratches on CDs.

Or buy a special CD designed to clean CD players and CD-ROM drives.

Also maybe your IDE data ribbon might be ruined.

You can always try to make an image of the original CD and then burn that (use clonecd) with a CDR. I find a decent CDR drive can read cd's a normal cheap 40x+ drive cannot.
This way you keep the original from getting worse and your cd drive has a much easier time reading a cdr with no scratches
