I have a pII 166 with 24Mb of Ram. I recently had to re-format my HD, and I managed to install Privateer, (the original). I've made a boot disk, but I still get the message "insufficient DOS memory". This seems to be a common problem. How can I set up my AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS to make use of my XMS. I would like to load all the TSR's into Extended memory. HELP ME!!!!
P.S. I'm running WIN 98 SE
frustrated

Go to ebay and buy a copy of QEMM memory manager (version 7.5 is my favorite), its more powerful then the one built into DOS.

privateer I believe runs on P2 166MHz 32 MB of RAM...so I suggest upgrade your RAM.

Yes, sort of. I'm still a little unsure about the "use current configuration" and "use new configuration" settings. Can SOMEONE please show me an example of what this should look like???

if you have smartdrv installed in config.sys write
device=c:\windows\smartdrv.exe 256

I just wanted to leave a note saying that I used MyJemm, and it works!! Privateer runs in a Dos window, although I had to create a msdos shortcut (using the Origin Logo), and set the command line to c:\privater\Myjemm.exe; Just so you know, I used the original config.sys (I didn't specify a new one) in the Properties tab. Also, I changed my config.sys, to BUFFERS=35, and FILES=35.
I hope this will help anyone else trying to run Privateer in Win 98SE!
P.S. Thanks for all your advice
