hm... I search for a old game with 2 cavemen who have to pass different levels ... you could play with one caveman alone or with both cavemen and two people on the keyboard ... one caveman has a hammer , the other a boomerang ... I remember that when you push the fire button a bit longer , the hammer/boomerang is bigger and makes more damage.
Every level has a final enemy ... I think in the first Level it was a T-Rex ...

with a club. I think the game you are looking for is called "Joe and Mac:
Caveman Ninja".
