Pack of educational games?

Post by another gamehunter »

Back in elementary school we had an Apple lab (this was 1990-95), and I can remember playing this RPG-ish game where you're a runaway slave. I remember it was really fun to play, even though I didn't know what "reorient" meant--that was one of the turn options, I think there were 10 or so. I have no idea what it's called, but if it helps, it was part of a really long list of games we had on the Apples, among which were Oregon Trail and what I believe was Odell Lake. I also think that Dr. Livingston, I Presume? and Number Crunchers was on this list. Originally, I thought all the games on the Apples were from MECC. But I'm not positive. If anyone knows the title of this game, or if an educational software pack like this existed, please let me know!

In addition, I am curious if the Yukon Trail is available anywhere. Also, in looking through this forum I've seen a few references to Monkey Island and it's apparent elusiveness. Is there any more information on it, perhaps in another thread?

Many thanks :)

Runaway Slave... hmmm, was it made by SSI? (Sounds like the beginning to DS: Shattered Lands)

Number Crunchers and Oregon Trail were indeed made by MECC, I'm not sure about the others.

My uncle sent me a CD of Yukon Trail back when it was made. I never really enjoyed it but I might still have it somewhere in the attic.

And I don't really know if there was really an Apple MECC software pack-I recieved most MECC software free of charge as a kid... I'd reccomend you have a look around TLC's site to see if any of MECC's old Apple games.
