Jazz Jack Rabbit trouble and other games

OKay, so i download the Jazz but when i try to run. Noyhing happens.
Just a black screen apears and intantanley it turn off.
So i try to run in DOS but the unique that appears is a message like this
"RUNTIME ERROR AT 2000:2A2B"
I have benn following the manual step by step but i can run it.
I have a Windows 98 with Ms-Dos 6.0.
PLEASE I NEED HELP I LOVE THIS GAME AND I LIKE TO PLAY IT ONE LAST TIME BEFORE I CAN RUN IT IN THE XP.
I will really apreciate your help.

I forgot to say I have windows Me... I don't know if that makes a difference or not!

Thanxs wally, now i can run Jazz and i can die in peace now.
but......
WHAT HAPPEN WITH TYRIAN.
IT DOSNT WORK THE PATCH
IS IT UNPATCHABLE????????????????
HELPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I edited out the instructions that caused the problems and the game worked all right

WOW! I am hearing some good news about success getting Jazz Jackrabbit #1 to run here! Please, if you can help me, my son is excited about playing it. He's played #2 and I've told him #1 is MUCH better. I am using Windows XP home with the service pack+all updates to the service pack. I hope you can help me too! Thanks!

the patch is avaliable from
www.qmw.ac.uk/~ugah006/gotools/tppatch.html
You will need to READ the instructions with it.

Please Help Required!
My Old 486 DX 4 CPU went out of order and Jazz Jack Rabbit 1 or Jazz X-Mas
Edition won't work on my Pentium II or Pentium IV. I need help (a patch or program would be nice).

Well everybody thanks anyway, I searched around and found the Patch and
DOS box (a sort of DOS shell emulator, like those for sega and nintendo).
Anyway I think it will work just fine.
