Rise of the Triad crashes with memory error

I'm trying to play a custom mapset in the '94 game Rise of the Triad. On actual hardware, it does not crash at all. In DOSBox, at various parts of any level, the game crashes with an error about being unable to allocate (number differs with each crash, like 152) bytes. I tried setting memsize up to 512, but it makes no difference. Anything else I can try?
