hi
After trying to find the game in the database I try my luck here.
it's a puzzle DOS game from the early 90s. I played it somewhere between 93-95.
The game reminds me of Tetris since the mission is to make blocks disappear as well but instead of lines you need to make squares of 9 blocks at least, and instead of falling blocks you move them from the bottom corner and place them on the screen.
There are some small random surprises within the blocks like bombs to help you or prevent you from cleaning the screen.
You can play solo or against a friend with a split screen, left and right, and I remember red and blue as the colors for the players.

A group of similar games is here: https://www.mobygames.com/game-group/ge ... le-removal
However, the only listed DOS game from the 90:s is a match-3 puzzle called Bars, which may not fit that well.
It is possible some other game in the list also had a DOS version that is undocumented on Mobygames, so check all the ones from that decade.
