"The Eight-Bit Bard: A fantasy novel set to the tune of classic computer role-playing games"
by Aaron Rath (Author page, Amazon.com link)
This was a fabulous light and humorous fantasy dungeon-crawl book. I just finished it up for the second time - I really liked it. It's the story of a Bard character in a classic computer RPG game - Wizardry, Ultima, M&M, Gold Box D&D or anything else covered by the CRPG Addict blog. He and his party are trying to make sense of the crazy world they inhabit and their quest, and it's just fun - they live all the rules of playing an old CRPG - the mapping, running to nearby temples for healing, resting up in the inn for health and magic restoration. It's very tongue-in-cheek. There are lots of in references to games, game playing, fantasy books, and gamers, and I know I didn't catch them all. Available in paperback or kindle at Amazon.
