old nes game similar to donkey kong [Super Donkey Kong]

Hi everyone
First of all
Happy New Year to all
I am looking for an old NES game I played long LONG ago
I was called Donkey Kong and was a sidescroller like Super Mario
The main character was a Gorilla and I think you could choose between a big gorilla and a small gorilla to play each level (probably supposed to be Diddy Kong) but the two characters did not appear together in any level (I think)
The game was called Donkey Kong (as far as I can remember that is, I only have vague recollections of the music and the stages)
There were many stages and I think it showed a map at the beginning of each level to show where you were going (like in Ghosts and goblins)
I forgot whether you had to step on enemies or hit them with weapons
I can remember a jungle stage where the enemies were giant snails whose eyes jumped up and down with the background music
The final game boss was a crocodile on a pirate ship and he threw his crown at you and when he did not have the crown on his head, we were supposed to jump on his head but if you jumped on his head when he had a crown you would take a hit
His attack was that the shot his crown at you like a boomerang
we had to jump over it and step on his head while also avoiding the crown when it came back
I think he also shot fireballs at us but I'm not quite sure right now
I have been searching high and low (and by that I mean Google and youtube of course) but it either shows be the first donkey kong game (the one where Mario has to climb ladders to reach Pauline) or Donkey Kong Country from SNES
I can't find that game anywhere
And the worst part is, I can't even remember whether the text was all Japanese or English (however I am sure it did not matter to understand how to play the game; I remember I had finished the game once)
If anyone has any idea about this game, please give me the full name and some screenshots or videos too if available
