Name of puzzle game with a ball, nice visuals, nice music

Hi all,

Just bumped into this site after Googling a bit, hope you can help. I'm reviving old DOS games on my PC and am having trouble finding a specific game, also having trouble remembering all the details :D

It was some sort of puzzle game with a ball, involving physics as well. The only things I remember is that it had really nice relaxing music, pretty good visuals and involved a (glass?) ball that shattered into dust with a nice cristally sound when you died.

Wow, sorry for being so vague to not being able to give you much more to go on :shame: , but I can't remember more details than this, just sort of the 'state of mind' the game brought me in when I was playing. I remember the game as a very 'crystal clear' game, a very clean playing experience.

Does this ring a bell with any of you? If I remember any more details I'll let you know, obviously.

Regards,
Swoopie

Maybe one of the Boulder Dash clones?

Hi Larry, thanks for the fast response. It was definitely not something like Boulder Dash, it's a totally different genre. More moving around a top-down field, solving puzzles. Hmmm, how am I going to put this... difficult, don't remember much to go on. I'll keep Googling and remembering though!

Oxyd wasn't the game, checked a video on some site. Really frustrating I can't just remember some more details.

Oxyd looks like a cool game though :D

Of course, there is the arcade game Marble Madness (that you shatter and get swept up if you fall too far), and MM has lots of knock-offs and followups on all platforms.

And I know it's not Quadralien, but that is a fun magnet game with physics and rolling balls to distract yourself in your misery of forgetfulness:

Thanks for the suggestions, but indeed, those aren't it. Marble Madness I know indeed, fun game that was! Don't know Quadralien.

I'll keep searching. I strongly got the feeling it wasn't really a very known game.

What I didn't do so far is dig up all the old stuff from my dad's attic. He might have all that stuff still lying around.

Hehe, sorry, guys, that's not it either. With 'nice visuals' I really mean 'nice' visuals. But ofcourse, nice is relative and subjective. I visited my parents today, asking where he put all the old games, but they are kind of 'out of reach' on the attic. And we're not sure if it's in there...

But we'll see, going to dig them up someday. Think my dad should have a ZIP disk somewhere with all the old games on them.

Endorfun?

Hi Missy, thanks, but no, Endorfun is not it, don't know the game, but it seems to be about a cube, not so much about a ball...

Really cool that suggestions keep coming in. Wish it were easier to convince my parents to search through the boxes, or let me do it myself, but they're too afraid I might cause a mess

Was it DX-Ball, DX-Ball 2 or Super DX-Ball? sounds very like what your looking for, smashing glass, nice colors and music.

I just ran into AirBall for the first time. Might be worth a look.

And I've been assuming it's not WizBall or sequel WizKid, but since we've not found it yet, worth a mention.

Nope, these aren't them indeed. I also vaguely remember some sort of 'name' to the game, so not a noun or a verb, but a name. OMG this is frustrating. My father actually has the ZIP disk with all the old games, but the ZIP drive is hard to find... otherwise we might have solved it already. If it's on there, that is.

Hi, I am looking for a game that sounds similar to what you are describing. You mentioned a glass ball shattering, and in the game I am thinking of, your ball could be changed from rubber, steel, ice, glass, and possibly a few other type of materials. I vaguely remember elements of the game, such as spherical "gobbling" monsters that would swallow your ball, unless it was made of ice, which would cause it to slip out of it's mouth. The rubber ball could bounce off of walls and seemed to be the most used form. The steel ball could be manipulated by magnets in the levels, and I'm pretty sure there were bottomless holes or something to that effect.

One other thing I remember about the game, there were was like a green "mascot" elf character that was probably at the title screen and manipulated the controls located on a toolbar under the level (I'm not sure if you were supposed to be playing him or if he was a second character alongside whatever the player character was). He would sometimes "block" off the controls, such as the option to change the ball type during the level.

I never played this game, I only observed an older cousin play it when I was very young, but it looked very interesting and I never managed to remember the name. Does it sound like what you are looking for?

Nevermind, I found out what game it was (Wild Science Arcade).
