the LOL discussion...
I think this deserves a topic. Here are my views on 'chatspeak'
lol doesn't bother me, it sounds better than constantly saying laughing out loud, and quick too. As for some dumbasses (especially young girls) who seem to abbreviate anything and everything they can, that is what bothers me. Instead of saying "It's time for me to go visit my doctor" they will say "its time 4 me 2 see my dr." wtf... that is REALLY bloody annoying. I can't stand it when people start replacing words with numbers (un1355 I7 I5 83IN6 U53> |=02 1337).
Lets hear some others' stories and views on chatspeak.

I Don't like short hand, and agree totally with Wardrich. I, on occasion, use lol, lmao, brb and g2g. But, as you can see, I type everything else out in the fullest. Unless I'm in an utter hurry. It's easier, and more simple (espescially the brb thing, when you really gotta go to the bathroom!) So, Lol....isn't that bad.

I'm fine with some forms of chatspeak, just when you start replacing Words (not acronyms) with single letters, or make up your own acronyms (like someone I know who kept making up his own acronyms, I started annoying him by turning everything I said into acronyms, lt*) it gets annoying.
*Made up, deliberately annoying acronym for 'like this'.

Uh, since when? I don't know, maybe it's because I prefer intelligent friends, but I don't know any sane person who talks in chatspeak. "Ell Oh Ell Jwan! R U Cin Knee Oen az ov lte?" (don't ask me how to pronounce that)Winger2 wrote:in my oppinion..people who are 15-16 shouldn't give a shit about chatspeak..its how normal teenagers talk!

I cant stand no punctuation. Or even worse, people who 7h1nk 7h4t 7yp1ng 1ik3 7h1s 1s k001. And thinking that It's 13375834|<. There's a diffirence between d00dspeak and 1337speak; 1337speak is completely numbers/symbols. No letters. d00dspeak is a mixture of letters and numbers. WFH annoyed me with that for the longest time...
