Hi all,
I am new to posting on sites like this so forgive any mistakes.

I have an AMD athalon 1.0Ghz, 256 RAM,GeoForce 2 64 meg video card,
I have no sound card and what is listed under the options is SiS 7018 Audio driver. I recently downloaded MoM and have gotten everything to work except for the sound. The game was downloaded to a folder named MPS and to start and run the game we right click on the start button select the explore option, select the MPS folder and then inside select the DOS shortcut MAGIC, which then reboots the comp and starts the game. Now i am not familair enough with the teminology to know whether this is emulated or what it is doing........i just dont know what to do to get the sound working. I already went and searched the web over for any DOS drivers for that particular audio driver.....I am sure i sound like an idiot but i would really appreciate any help i can get. Oh and when i right click on the MAGIC shortcut and select properties then program, then advanced, this is what is listed in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file

SET winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 P330 T3
SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET PROMPT=$p$g
SET WINBOOTDIR=C:\WINDOWS
SET PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND
LH C:\MOUSE\DOS\AMOUSE

I dont know if this helps any but i am trying to give as much info as possible so as to avoid a 3 week discourse on missing obvious information...... :) Please help me if anyone can...... :)

Try getting an updated driver for your SiS 7018 Audio driver. There may be a special command to run.

I tried already......

Try Editing the games settings. If it doesn't have SoundBlaster 2.0 Support, change the T3 in the SET BLASTER=A...T line to one of these:

Code: Select all

T specifies the type of sound blaster card
                 1 - Sound Blaster 1.5
                 2 - Sound Blaster Pro I
                 3 - Sound Blaster 2.0
4 - Sound Blaster Pro II
                 6 - Sound Blaster 16/AWE 32/32/64

Also note, that particular SiS chipset doesn't appear to have a DOS mode driver so if you can't get the app to see the sound card under a command prompt then you may have to disable the onboard sound and use a separate sound card. I think that mobo may only have PCI slots too so finding an older sound card that also has a dos mode driver will be a bit harder ;)

Well i tried the first suggestion.....nadda.......and the second well since your correct about pci only slots..........that will be a bit hard.....maybe i will get lucky........and by the way if anyone happens to know someone who has written a DOS driver for that particular app then please by all means direct me that way so i can resolve this annoyance of no sound more quickly.............and ty all for your responses it is greatly appreciated......=P

There are a few PCI sound cards out there that will support a DOS legacy sound driver. I seem to recall one of them being the Ensoniq Audio PCI card which was also know as the SB PCI 64 I do believe.

Perhaps this is a solution as well, just disable the onboard SiS sound and remove the drivers and then that should do it.
