Age of Empires (1990) - Mounting Problem!

I downloaded Age of Empires from Abandonia on this link:
http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/419/S ... ires!.html

I have DOSBox 0.74 and I added this to [autoexec]:

Code: Select all

mount c c:/Users/Username/oldgames/
c:
cd aoe
start
Let me get this out of the way: Using the forward slashes don't give me an "Illegal Command" error the way the backslashes do, so I'm using those. Also, the "Users" folder is capitalized on my computer so I capitalized it in the directory.

My game is located in:

Code: Select all

Username/oldgames/aoe/
Inside that folder are AE.ICO, AE000.DAT, AE001.DAT, and AEPROG.EXE.
The first problem I had with it was trying to open the .EXE, at which point I was told the system didn't support fullscreen.

1. The problem I'm having is DOSBox keeps telling me that my directory doesn't exist. This simply confuses the hell out of me, as I've tried a ton of things.
2. Subsequently, DOSBox also tells me drive C does not exist, and that I have to mount it first. I'm assuming this will be automatically fixed once the first problem is taken care of.
3. The third error feedback I get is that I'm "still on drive Z [and I have to] change to a mounted drive with C:."
4. According to DOSBox, start is an illegal command. I assume that just like the 2nd problem, this will be fixed when the first one is.

I work with AS2 so even though I don't know any other computer languages, I can pick up on languages and computer workings pretty quickly, although my vocabulary is extremely lacking! I Googled 'mounting' and I didn't quite understand the definition I got, and I have no clue what mount lines are, having a Google search returning NO helpful results at all. If you need more information I'll be glad to provide it, but again my vocabulary is lacking.

Ahem, "username" must be your ... user name.
Can be: John, Mary, .... whatever your account is.

I DID put my actual user name there. I just changed it back for my post... And x_x you didn't point out any other potential problems. Does this mean my computer is just fucked?

EDIT: For some reason DOSBox has decided that now it wants me to use backslashes... Well my problem's fixed now. Great game, btw, I recommend it to all who are reading!

Because you only have one (1) problem: screwed up mount.
