In attempting to run Commander Keen on WinXP Pro, the game functions properly using the keyboar/mouse; however, I have been unable to have the system use a USB joystick (my system only has USB ports).
Is there a technique to make this work?
If not, should I purchase an "old" sound card (ie Soundblaster PCI 16) which has an analog port on it and try that? I have an old Microsoft Sidewinder analog joystick.
Recommendations are appreciated.

Commander Keen - Joystick not functional
Use dosbox to run dogames.
Your USB joystick will work.
Read the stickies.
BTW, CKeen 1 doesn't have a joystick option, the others do.
If it's a good idea to use a joystick with CKeen is another question.
In my opinion the keyboard control works best.
But: other people other taste.

Re: Commander Keen - Joystick not functional
Of course there is! If you buy a USB Joystick by Logitech (like the one I have now), it comes with software which you can assign buttons to keys in specified programs, and run it right out of the profiler! Then when you start DosBox under the profiler, when you press a mapped button, it will be just like you pressed the key! That's what works for me.Wild-Bill wrote:Is there a technique to make this work?
It would be another thing if you couldn't afford a $30 Logitech Dual Action joystick.
