I dont have a problem with intel chips (have a p3-733 here somewhere) but I would avoid the celeron like the plague (very crappy output for their clock speed). An athlon xp, a real p4, or even a duron is a much better chip.

Aaaayyyy, there ain't no crap PC's on this site. Ask U_K, he's got the full range and should help setup a museum.
Me, I just like to max-out any PC I have, no matter how lowly. Tweeks is still fun 4 the MIPS hobbist (12 more "sysmarks", alllllllrrrriiiggghhttt!!
). 4 instance, I bet that P75 will just take a 100 or 133 chip if you just knew the jumpers.

Sure I will setup a museum, send me all the old software packages you have (including the box and manuals) and I will get to work (since I already own 1 of each generation PC).

The computer store has Norton Desktop (Not sure which version) that they are going to sell on e-bay. It's old, and says "NOW WORKS WITH WINDOWS 95!" on it.

All sing along: "Every PC is precious, every PC belongs..." (Que the dancing Smerfs.)
U_K: I've got Norton 6 for DOS. I'll check to see if the disks are still viable. Same with the pile of 5-1/4's. I should be copying them to CD soon before all the bytes sift to the bottom of the disks anyway.

Do you gus know where to find 256kbit x 4 DRAM 20 pin DIP chips?
They were common in ISA video cards (8 pcs for 1mb)and on some old motherboards. I need 16 to upgrade an scsi card I got with my Amiga 2000 the other day.
I seen somebody selling Norton Desktop 2.2 on ebay but they want $10 for shipping something that would cost $1 via USPS media mail, I hate that.

Beware: DOS 4 has some glitches. At the prompt type "ver" and see what the skinny really is. Go to:

Back to the hardware.
