Not that I really want to, but as it seems you've never heard of thumbnails for posting pics ..... and http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/whatever is kinda slow to load in full pic mode here , you leave me no choice.

Ah well, guess you'll survive a block ......

About to make two innocent little boys chickenfight (what monsters we are!):

About 200 more where that came from, in the interest of not driving dosraider crazy, I'll limit myself. :)

Nice pics Dogbreath. Good to know at least some of us are living more interesting lives maybe even something to write about someday... unlike dosraider's autobiography which hasn't sold many copies lately

DB....get your (platoon? company?) commander's number for me.

For what, exactly?

It's a platoon. Dunno what you crazy soldiers do, but a company in the Marine Corps is always commanded by a captain. Platoon by a 1st lieutenant, who usually has a 2nd lieutenant with him to <strike>be his bitch</strike> learn valuable leadership skills. (the female 1LT you see was recently promoted)

We normally only have one lieutenant per platoon as a Platoon Leader...the Platoon Sergeant (usually a senior E-6 or an E-7) is the one that imparts all his wisdom.

I know Marines have "Platoon Commanders," but I wasn't sure which she was....'Round these parts, you can sometimes have a 1LT as a company commander.

Dude, I can't fraternize with female (or male, I guess now) enlisted troops...I gotta find me a female sugar-lieutenant, sugar-captain, or even sugar-major.

The <strike>bitch</strike> Junior Officer in training slot isn't always there - it depends on whether or not there are any boot ROTC type officers to fill it.

See, thanks to the large percentage of mustangs (prior-enlisted officers) in the Marine Corps, we have the strange and unusual tradition of Officers Who Actually Do Work. (terrifying, I know) Because of this, a lot more is required of our junior officers than in the Army, where often it's the Platoon Sergeant's job to instruct and train that 2LT.

Unfortunately, a Marine Corps 2LT is just as inexperienced and naive as an Army 2LT: try and put him in charge of a Platoon of experienced Marines, and it'll either fall apart in a week, or the Platoon Sergeant will take over. Either way, it means the officer is useless. So while you might see a mustang 2LT being given his own platoon, any ROTC 2LT will spend about 2 years under a 1LT or captain before they're allowed to take charge as a Platoon Commander.

This continues throughout the ranks... a 1LT about to pick up captain will often spend about 6 months to a year as a Company XO to get him used to the new size and responsibilities a company offers. Major is just about the most awkward rank, and they often spend many of those years as either Section Commanders or as an XO to a LtCol Battalion Commander, or filling some weird billet. (ever notice how just about any strange or unusual officer billet is filled by a major?) A LtCol about to pick up is often a Regimental XO... and so forth.

Clear as mud?

All I know is, were you to were wear outfits like that back home, your life expectancy wouldn't be too high...
