Blasto on the PS1? Not sure how classic it was and more of a third person game than a platformer, but that is all I can think of. It was voiced by Phil Hartman from Saturday Night Live fame.

Hey, I also initially thought about Duke Nukum (I think they didn't change the title back for part one... or did they?), but actually it's The Adventures of Captain Comic, right?
