Well, technically it isn't the first part, especially since Cryo wasn't supposed to release their game because Virgin called the
Dune license back, but they did that anyway, while Westwood published theirs later and had to attach the
II part to the title.
Dune II was ported to Sega Mega Drive as
Dune: The Battle for Arrakis, without any
II thing in it.

Yay for that one! (I remember all the hype around
HoMM3 when it came out, but personally I much prefer the hand-drawn style of the first two games.

Yeah, that one's very neat, and pretty much ahead of its time.

My favorite is Zeliard. Out of all the games I've owned in the past, I can't seem to sell this one. Great gameplay and memorable soundtrack. One day I'll have to pickup a Tandy to play it again.

God Of Thunder. When I was a kid we had the shareware version which only had part 1. I downloaded it as freeware a few years ago. It was pretty awesome to play those other two parts of such a nostalgic game after so many years. The first part is still my favourite though.

I would have to say Alley Cat, The Oregon Trail and Sim Ant are some of my most beloved games. Granted I was a child back then and I did not even know what DOS was. In fact I think I either had to have a family member start the program for me or a teacher in school. To this day I still enjoy all three rather well. I also remember fondly of King's Quest, although I am still not totally into it. But it was fun knocking the troll off the bridge.
And Leisure Suit Larry was an interesting little gem of a game.
A real eye opener. And to this day I am still confused how to make DOS work properly, at least easily anyway.
Oh and there may have been many more DOS games I would of enjoyed, just that I was playing them on a console or later ported to Windows. I never actually had a DOS machine or what ever you call it when DOS was popular.

Well, it is easy for me to mention games that I liked as a favourite for other systems like Windows: Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness, and Chessmaster 10th Edition by Ubisoft. However, I keep those games on my shelf as a collector's item. I have mine on the shelf for what seems like a year or two straight and haven't played them anymore. I just love them. They are original discs that are a gem. It is like having a Ferrari and keeping it in the garage (NOT that I have one).
For the Commodore 64, I love Bard's Tale. I could not believe I finished that game in months or years time. My parents must have love me. However I do remember the church school I had to go to at the same time. Learning and memorizing the Holy books were tough however a part of my life.
I already told you about Pegasus? What about Tetris, The Warrior, Rainbow Six or such for the very first XBOX original console? There are so many classics that I once held so dear and still do however they are no longer with me now adays.
Today, I am more a developer hopefully for a lifetime? Preferably DOS using Borland Turbo Assembler 4.1?? What about 50 years down the line? Will I still be here? Will DOS?
But, DOS is a different beast. I would have to say on the lite side - excluding my own games, I own Heroes: Might and Magic (first edition) - it is actually a special first edition [at least it says so on the disc?] my memory is vague.
For hardcore graphics and intense emotions being brought up in my life, it has to be Quake. I have never experience such awe at the graphics, BUT yet so much fear because of my religious beliefs at a game!

I recall several favorites, in different genres of course; WC Privateer, Monkey Island, Little Big Adventure 1/2, EF2000, Ultima Underworld, Crusader:No Remorse/Regret, War of the Worlds - all good DOS oldies, but I'm not much for replaying, good memories are better sometimes.
