survival game

i'm looking for a game, where you need to help people to survive on island. you need to gather food, make yourself tools, make shelters,...
it's kind a strategy and it must be about 10 years old.

Actually, I think you might be looking for "Survival: The Ultimate Challenge." Came out in 2001, which about fits your time frame, and you could do all the things you mentioned. Hope that helps!
