Been watching some Star Trek series lately, more specific:
Voyager
Deep Space 9
Enterprise.
The fuck?
It's completely ridicule, come on, the shuttles? The bridge? No seat belts? No airbags?
Every time a shuttle crashes, they get thrown out of their seats, every time the ship shook they are thrown out of their seats....
Result: head bumps, broken arms and legs.
Get serious will ya? Any car our days has better seats, seatbelts, airbags, whatevers and whatnots to protect the passengers.
Suckers.
Suckers !!!!
Suckers !!!!

Well it's more dramatic and fun to watch that way than hear Spock say "Guys we're about to crash land into a meteorite... better fasten your seat belts again... not that it would really matter at THIS kind of speed anyway"dosraider wrote:Been watching some Star Trek series lately, more

Apparently, it's a failure in inertial dampers... I like how the always fail *just enough* to toss them around a bit, but not enough to smear them into a paste on the back of the wall. (which, considering the tremendous changes in velocity, is the inevitable result)
Star Trek is "soft science fiction." It basically just uses technology as a prop that allows the characters to explore ideas that couldn't otherwise be discussed outside of purely theoretical terms. There's no real attempt to take science seriously - it's the equivalent of fantasy.

LUDICROUS SPEED... GO!!!!!!!!
One time I had a Jack and coke and it had a lime in it, And I saw that the lime was floating. That's good news man. Next time I'm on a boat and it capsizes, I'll reach for a lime... I'll be water skiing without a life preserver and people'll say 'What the hell?' and I'll pull out a lime...and a lemon too. I'm saved by the buoyancy of citrus.
