I would happily give it another activation key, but when i say i will, it tells me it's already activated?

http://asia.cnet.com/digitalliving/ask/ ... 206,00.htmThe essential difference between MP3 and MPEG-4 is that the latter allows for the compression of video, while the former does not. Below are the glossary definitions.
MPEG-1, Layer 3: A compression technology, part of the MPEG specification that produces small, high-quality audio files by eliminating sound signals which the human ear cannot register. MP3 refers to the file format as well as the compression standard. To create an MP3 file, you need a ripper--a program that copies a song from a CD to your hard drive--and an encoder to convert the file to the MP3 format. To play the file, you need MP3 player hardware or software for your computer.
MPEG-4: Advanced compression scheme finalized in October 1998, designed to enable transmission and reception of high-quality audio and video over the Internet and next-generation mobile telephones; potentially enables mobile video phones, video email, and cordless video cameras. Two major versions are MPEG-4 Simple Profile for low-resolution digital video content, usually for distribution over the Internet, and MPEG-4 AVC (Advanced Video Coding), which offers faster and higher-quality compression than MPEG-2 for HDTV content.

Pffff. it's possible, yes. Before doing the install you use a partition manager, shrink your current C: , move it to 'end' of HD, flag it as non-boot, make it logical D: , that frees enough space to create a new C: to use as install partition, use the new created C: for your new OS install.GAMER wrote:How do i back up if i can't get into the "see the pretty things on the screen" part of using my computer??
i NEED mum's personal files... (which i assume are in C: )...
how do i do all this moving and changing??

Slim, even non-existing. And certainly not sober this evening/night.GAMER wrote:p.s. what are the chances of you being awake and responsive right when i need you?

BOOTABLE CD with the partition manager on it, doesn't need a working OS on the PC.GAMER wrote:I don't get how i can make partitions and stuff when i can't even log in or anything?
That's also an option, try a 'repair' instead of a full install, but it will depend how well your 'slightly' illegal XP has been cracked if that will work.GAMER wrote: I did contemplate the last option. The "plug your hard drive into another pc as a slave" path...But i thought there'd be an option with the windows install that it just replaces the system files and what not??
Then i could dump mum's files onto my external hard drive...
Then re-format after when i have everything saved?
