New server status reports
New server status reports
Well the new server is setup. I transferred my own personal site emmzee.com there yesterday manually and it now seems to be working perfectly. (After struggling to get my email working, but eh at least it works now and I know what the problem was!)
I just now tried WHM's "Transfer Account" feature which (in theory) copies an entire hosting account from one WHM/CPanel server to another. I tried it with Potofgold.org (one of my old, pretty much dead domains/sites) and it seems to work. If this also works flawlessly for a larger & more complicated site (like, say, DOSGames!) that'll save me many hours of work. So let's all cross our fingers on that one
Currently I'm waiting for the nameserver changes to propagate so that I can continue moving sites over. I'll update this thread with the thrilling (ha!) details as they happen.
Well, unless I manage to wreck the site/forum while moving it ... then you wouldn't be able to read the forum so ... uh, yeah.

Oh yeah.
But I still say that somehow(now that you're using that "Transfer Account" feature the odds just skyrocketed) you'll manage to burn all the sites! And the offsite backups!
Still holding bets people, 1:5 payout!

Thanks for the confidence guys Still waiting for the nameservers to propagate so I can change the NS of the other domains ... if it doesn't happen by tonight I will start suspecting that something has gone awry. The good thing is that nothing will get screwed up at this point, the old server will continue chugging along until I decide things are ready to move to the new one .....

Don't worry! I'm sure you'll do a great job!
Come on people, step right up, payout's 10:1 that the internet implodes due to evil NS by midnight, Mississauga-local-time!

Update: Got the nameserver problem resolved finally.
Tried the "Transfer Account" feature with potofgold.org (worked flawlessly) and with vgstores.com (worked with some minor problems). So I figure I'll try it with DOSGames.com and see how it does, probably tomorrow ... it shouldn't change anything on the current account anyways, so the current site should remain as it is and the domain won't direct to the new server until I change its nameservers.

Waw, beats a telly thriller series.
The future of dosgames is extremely uncertain.
Dark, dark clouds are gathering above us.
Will emmzee succeed in his transfers?
Will he screw something up? Beyond repairs?
Will he blow the site skyhigh?
Will emmzee be described in the history books as 'teh ultimate eraser'?
I'm sitting here on the edge of my seat, awaiting doomsday.
Oh my oh my, haven't any nails leftover for the obligatory nailbiting.
Oh my oh my, so young, only 5 years, and the poor site is in peril.

Er... actually the site's 8 years old
But I know what you mean by "sitting here on the edge of my seat, awaiting doomsday."
Wait! What if... emmzee actually does blow up the site? And that causes a butterfly effect, and the whole internet spontaneously combusts?
Oh, wait, I said that already... never midn

If you're reading this (here's a guess: you are!) then you're seeing the site on its new server. Seamless, aye?

But, what about that stigmata kicking back in? Are we just supposed to ignore it? I mean, look at that crazy squirrel, it's bleeding all over the place! From it's eye!
