Running Linux in Windows

I remember seeing something that lets you run a Linux distrib in Windows ... not a bootable Linux CD, and not Cygwin ... but basically just let you run it in a window. A search revealed "Cooperative Linux":

But I don't think that's it. Anyone? Is the best solution to use VMWare or VirtualPC?

I would rather use vpc than that co linux thing. That colinux looks much more confusing to use.

One problem with VPC: several newer distri's will not work, they can't lower resolution enough to run on a S3Virge videocard ( that's the only one that VPC can emulate). S3 also means no full 3D support.

VMWare, don't know, it's been a while that I used this, but I *hear* that their is also a 3D problem.

Maybe that colinux isn't such a bad idea.

Just checked, the best VPC2004 can emulate is a S3 Trio32/64PCI with 4MB vidmem. VPC2007 won't do better.

I'm a bigger fan of VMWare. I've tried both a while ago.

Duh. Quake 4, Sauerbraten, UT2004... Only good games run on Linux.

(I should mention that that is only partial sarcasm)

Ive tried a distruibution NimbleX,and it has a module called Wine,basically with it you can run windows programs and games.
CS runs fer sure.
Anways can someone reco0mmend me a good distribution that has the mp3 players in them,not like some that you must download them after the install.

Sometimes I wonder why so many seems to forget the hardware solutions.

Swapable HD drive tray.
Drive bracket + one HD tray : approx 11€
Extra tray:6 €
Some old 20 or 50 G HD to mess around with linux or others, dirt cheap.
Done.

Do I use that ? Yes.
Works good ? Yes.

Most Linux distros come with a Wine package in their repos. It's not bad, but I've heard that Cedega is better.
