Any of you remember Castles and Castles 2?
Post by redwing634 »
I mostly played Castles 2 back in the day and remember always attacking the pope and getting owned. Never could beat it.
Remembered that the game existed earlier this year, downloaded it, and finally beat it a few times (and had a fun time doing it). To me it seems like an early version of "Age of Empires". I can see where they might have gotten ideas for the age of empires type games from Castles2 (needing resources and all that fun stuff).

You should try Castles 2, it can be downloaded for free online, legally. And in my opinion it's a lot more interesting/fun then castles 1 (though I liked that one some too). I bet castles 2 will catch on quickly.

Had to chop this up slightly... as we're not really allowed to post abandonware links. --wardrich

Well, for starters, I was the one that chopped it up and hid the part. Secondly, Abandonware is a gray zone. Do you really think the company that made Castles is still selling it? No. Do you htink they still support it? Probably not. If you call them and make reference to it, do you think they know what you're talking about? I highly doubt it.franpa wrote:abandonware is NOT LEGAL.redwing634 wrote:yep here:

That being said, why would they care that it's being passed around for free? They're not losing any money.

if Abandonware wasn't legal, why is it still a website? It's been around forever and they have (to the best of my knowledge) never been sued for anything relating to "illegal file sharing" or "copyright infringement".

*discussion =O
And The thing with Abandonia is they are obviously doing something right if they've yet to get shut down. Maybe it's the fact that they dont have free downloads for all the games, only the ones that have no threat of copyright infringement..
