I am one the priate side (i am one). If they don't make the freaking game what wrong with cracking it. If they still sold it i would go out there and buy it in a flash, but they don't. The companythat made the game should be happy that even when they don't market the game anymore people are still going crazy for it!
Who ever said dos games suck?

Pirates? What if I'm not from Pitsboig?

:D

Abandonware... what's not piracy?

Well, it's pretty simple for me. A) Will the ware run on a DOS-only PC? B) does the ware build date predate a version of Windows that's still supported?

Any yes here means it ain't piratin'... or even a good raid of anyone's pocket. BUT if you really liked the ware and you use it alot, you should at least send the programer a kudo and a good sub 2-4-1 coupon.

How many times do I have to tell you guys? EPIC *does* still sell their classic titles. http://www.epicclassics.com/

Most (all) of their websites for the various old games dating back to zzt are still up and running and you can still download (and probably get tech support) for their games there as well.

Have you ever really done that before? That'd be hilarious to send it to Microsoft or something!

Yeah! They've abonded 'em complitely, not even shareware versions aren't downloadable. I knew that before joinin' there. Epic Glassics is the legallest way to get 'em.

Abandonware Ring has a list of games which downloadin's illegal, but you mods don't lemmie to post a link

All you needed to do, is put a U after the P in PM, and you'd be singing a cruzan Taboo word

i'm all for abandonware, makes sense and I hope it just doesn't encircle dos games but all sorts of games and programs.

ne one knows the difference between shareware and freeware? they're the same right?

and warez... no no no, cracked games suck...
one time my m8 passed me tomb raider2 and i thought cool he made his own copy, then i played it till the end and i thought weird shouldn't there be cutscenes, then again it was my first TR games i've played.
So i'm about to complete it and after days of playing I was looking forward to the ending...

kill the last guy and NADA, nothing I was totally dumb founded I will never play a warez game again!!!

Basically, shareware is used to be a demo to advertise the rest of a series, suck as CK4, while Freeware is does not advertise.

um, freeware companies do advertise....

What JTA means is Shareware is like demo of a game, whereas freeware is a full version game already, that's just free.

A huge database of freeware games can be found at http://www.gamehippo.com
