ZZT

Post by rjamesnw »

Anyone know where to get specs on the ZZT format? I want to get it working in a 3D environment - that is, attempt to uae a 3D engine to run 3D translated ZZT levels.

It took some searching, but I knew I'd find it somewhere ... good 'ol Kev Vance, wonder what he's up to nowadays? Oh right, the file! It's available in several formats at the top of this page:

I warn you, it doesn't look like an easy read. :upset: You may want to take a look at some of the source code for ZZT-related projects (since the original source for ZZT itself is not available). I didn't search around the site, maybe there are sources for some of the editors & clones that people have made. The ZZT forum has an area setup for clones / editors ... doesn't seem very busy, and the zzt forum folk are not always the most, ah, helpful, but might be worth posting if you have specific q'ns about stuff:

Finally, this is the official DreamZZT site, the emulator some guy programmed to play ZZT on Dreamcast (!) which includes the source, although it'd be Dreamcast-oriented ... maybe the guy who programmed it would be willing to help you out, I dunno:

Good luck :D
