I need help
Djees Indr16, why do you answered our questions? Now you take all the fun off this lovely promising topic.
I hate you for that.
Anyway:
Download supaplex.zip
WE ARE STILL IN WINDOWS HERE
Create a folder called x:\games
( replace the X by the appropiate drive letter, for you it will probably be C)
Unzip supaplex.zip into c:\games\supaplex
Hit dosbox.conf in your dosbox startmenu, it will open notepad with the dosbox configurations.
look for [AUTOEXEC] heading( scroll down, it's at the bottom)
Add this lines UNDER [autoexec]:
mount C C:\games
C:
That is what you must have:
[autoexec]
# Lines in this section will be run at startup.
mount c c:\games
c:
DO NOT ALTER ANYTHING ELSE==Now save the file
Dosbox will from now on see C:\GAMES\ as your VIRTUAL C:\
Now we run dosbox
You will see that dosbox starts in C:\>
OK? Easy isn't it?
input at the prompt (thats at the c:\>)
cd supaplex hit <ENTER>here
spfix63 hit<ENTER>here
TADAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaa here you go your game is running
hit controls with the mouse pointer, choose SB and test your sound with samples , then hit <EXIT> to go back to the start screen of supaplex.
create a new player, input your name.
hit the red dot OK and your game starts, kinda funny game.
If the game runs too slow hit <CTRL+F12> to raise the CPU cycles
( the CPU cycles are indicated in the top of dosbox)
If the game runs too fast hit <CTRL+F11 to lower the CPU cycles.
On my PC the appropiate CPU cycles must be set on 800, it's not a demanding game.
AS I HAVE STILL NO IDEA OF YOUR PC SPECS SO I CAN'T EVEN GUESS WHAT YOURS MUST BE.
To play full screen hit <ALT+ENTER>
To exit the game hit <ESC>
You can close dosbox by input exit at the prompt.
********************************************
If you want to try out other dosgames unzip them ALWAYS in
C:\GAMES\FOLDERX
Keep your folders name SHORT, max 8 characters.
To run your games:
run dosbox,
at the C:\> prompt input:
cd folderX<ENTER>
If you don't know the startup file input dir /w<ENTER>
You will get a listing of the files in your folderX gamedir.
look for a start file, can be *.EXE, *.BAT, *.COM
If it doesn't work as I described, now then YOU screwed up somewhere
Next time you ask for help, state your PC sysspecs, and please don't tell me you don't know your OS or what PC you have.
Also if you have a problem be as elaborate as possible, details details details and again details, otherwise we CAN'T help you.
[EDIT]
Do you other guys wanna hear a good joke?
On my PC supaplex runs directly in W98 AND XP
MWUAHAHAhAhahahahahahaha

I did NOT mean that you borrowed/stole that text - I meant rather that you had typed that yourself, BUT several times before.
You know... It is quite time saving to reuse your own work from time to time.
But you should be aware of that anyway.
Even though it might screw things up for awhile when programming... changing variable namnes etc...
But to rewrite a game motor every time... naaaah - not my cup of tea - I don't even like tea btw

dosraider whilst your help, knowledge and experience of DOS is appreciated, this is not:
Come on, if people annoy you, don’t post. There are topics I just flat out avoid because the person asking the question straight out shits me off. I’d ask that you do the same rather then going on a semi-rant in future, thanks.dosraider wrote:INDR16

NeonAmd64: What??
"Don't talk forward directly about any mamber."?
No, I seriously don't understand what you are rambling about?
I don't know dosraider - you are correct, but I am pretty sure he is not offended or bothered of anything I wrote in this post. Dosraider let me know if otherwise, please!
And I DO know that dosraider knows what he is writing about - If you actually read my post you would have understood that...
"Wow - That, Indr16, was a way better explanation than you deserved.
I am impressed by dosraider for actually taking time to write that..."
I sure hope it's ok to write a few funny remarks or comments on this board ey? A board should encourage members to write. If not most people won't come back when they have some knowledge to share. I do think most of this board is ok with the encouraging part though. At least I hope so.

Nope, I'm not offended, why should I?
Djees guys, you are argumenting over a third person here (me), neither one of you is directly involved.
Neonamd64, I'm old enough to stand up for myself if needed.
Tompa, keep cool.
TSM: maybe you are right and I did a bit of a overkill, but reread the topic and you will realize that some kind of a shocktherapy was the only way here to even knowing WHAT game the guy/gal/something/it/whatever was talking about.

A new keyboard won't improve a person's spelling. Unfortunately.dosraider wrote:You estimate yourself too highly. Your importance in my life is nihil.Indr16 wrote:DOSRAIDER
