How do you get past Robo Red in Keen 5? When I stand next to him, he doesn't shoot, but I die if I touch him.

I don't think you do, just avoid them: that is how the levels have been designed.

Hang on a pole and let him go under you, or find another way to get past him.

You can't defeat Robo Red, he's simply invinceable. I've had a grand time messing around with him as a kid, but he can't be defeated, only bypassed. [trust me, I've tried to kill him. Apparently 400 shots doesn't even faze him.....]
