Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Weeee. As you may have guessed, I saw above mentioned title today at my local theater. IMO, this movie was closer to the book, I'm not sure how close for it's been some time since I read the book. Overall, I would recommend this movie. It's pretty good, the acting is phenominal, and the whole look just screams Tim Burton (who is one of my favorite directors).

At my old school one of the kitchen workers looked like an oompa looma.

I rented the VCD to watch it and it was quite interesting. My friend who watched it in the cinema told me that they made the cinema room smell of chocolate to add to the atmosphere.
Johhny Depp looked very sinister in the show. I wished that I could see the original (not spend too much to watch it) to see how the Willy Wonka was like.
I never got to watch it original so I can't compare it. The original movie on DVD called, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" was being sold. I did not want to spend money to buy the costly DVD. However, the orginal book that the movie was based on was called, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".Moo wrote:The orginial was good, especially the songs.

From what I’ve heard the original Willy Wonka was much more eccentric then the one in the remake though I’ve never actually seen the remake myself.

I spent $20 and bought the original one on DVD. Now that I have watch both versions, I can compare them.
One thing that I don't like was that Charlie and his grandfather were disobedient in the factory. Then again, anyone visiting the factory might have been tempted to be naughty. It's also interesting to see what happens as a result of this.
The orginal had a few slightly different contraptions in the factory compared with the remake. The remake incorporated more computer generated animation which did make it more exciting and modern compared to the original. The plot also slightly differ at the end. The remake also added more graphical recalling was why Willy Wonka closed his factory.
It's hard to say which is better because they have different settings and were made in a different era. Each has it's own good points. However, one thing that I can be sure is that I like the original songs better and do not like the look of Willy Wonka's in the remake.
As the original and the remake has some differences in the story, I still find it interesting watching the orginal after watching the remake.
I agree with you. The original was an old movie so the production and colour quality tended to be like those old movies. The songs were like other musicals. It was nice story, the focus on slightly different. In the original, he only had a mother but in the remake, he also had a father.Moo wrote:The orginial was good, especially the songs.
Beside liking kid more, Willy Wonka was friendlier in the original as he greeted the kids and parents, welcoming them one by one to his factory.franpa wrote:well.... lemme jus say in the original he liked kids more.
