Old Submarine game

Post by WishboneDawn »

You're a Commander of a US sub in the pacific during WWII. It's got to be fairly old since my husband remember playing it on 5 1/4 inch floppies.

The one that immediately came to mind was 688 Attack Sub, since my friend used to play that all the time back in elementary school ... but I don't think it was WWII. You could check the list of "Naval" themed games available at Mobygames, maybe one of the names will jog his memory ...

I think more at :
Aces of the deep /1994/Sierra-Dynamic.
or older:
Silent Service /1984/MicroProse.

You can find both on AW sites.

688 involved newer subs, We've already downloaded Aces and he swears it's not that and I think Silent Service would be too old (but I'll check it).

I'll check out Mobygames.

Thanks for the help but I suspect this is the one request from my husband that will drive me crazy. :)

No, that was off a Tom Clancy novel and dealt with a Russian nuclear sub. I'm stumped and I've been going through the Underdogs, Abandonia, etc. If anyone is struck with inspiration, let me know but I have a feeling this is one I'll stumble onto in a few months when I'm not expecting it.

Found!!!

The name at least, Silent Service II (1990). Sequel to Silent Service, a (who else) Sid Meier classic from '85.

Now I just have to find an actual download.
