Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital

I have this sound card in windows xp and a 5.1 Surround System and I have tried to run Dark Forces with sound. I can run it, but can not hear sounds. Vdms sound and Dosbox does not work. Do you know why, and is it even possible?
